Biography
Ijaz Patel was born and raised in Beau Bassin, Mauritius and attended lycee La Bourdonnais school in Curepipe. He continued his education at the College of Optometry, Toulouse, France. Earning his Bachelor in optometry and contactology in 2010.
Upon his return to Mauritius, he spent his clinical rotations, learning under the guidance of Mrs Nusrat Patel. In October 2013, Ijaz officially joined Patel Optics, specializing in primary eye care; children eye reeducation therapy and low vision.
As a result of the tender tutelage coupled with his European exposure, Ijaz became the avant-garde of the family business, thus bringing industry-leading experience and innovative ideas which transformed the company to new heights. One of his notable achievements involves digitalizing the business model, which remarkably bolstered customer experience.
He is currently the Managing Director of Patel Optics, and also a member of the optical association of Mauritius.
Outside of the office, Ijaz enjoys spending time with his family, playing football, and going to the beach. He is multilingual, including English, French, and Creole.
